Check iOS Settings → Dowui → Location. It needs Always, because you arrive and leave while the app is closed. Precise Location must be on too.
Two more: a place smaller than about 100 metres is too small for iOS to catch, and a status you set by hand stays until you clear it.
Share your 6-character code, or send the invite link. Both people have to accept.
You are told when a friend gets home, and nothing else. Change or mute that per friend, per circle, or for everything. Quiet hours are off until you turn them on.
Open a friend and choose Block. Sharing ends both ways and they are not told. If a name or picture is a problem, use Report — we read every one.
Settings → Delete account. It removes everything at once and cannot be undone.
Your places live on your phone, so they go with the app. Export them from the Places screen first if you want to keep them.
